Margaret is a contemporary abstract painter living in New Buffalo, Michigan - a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan.

Her work is about exploring feelings and memories that emerge from the moment - a walk on the beach, down the street, a scent, a song. Using acrylics, collage, pastels, pencils, and inks, Margaret creates a sensory painting on canvas and wood panels to express her emotional reactions.

Many times the process begins intuitively with applying acrylic paint and marks made from various implements. Responding to what has been laid down, a back and forth dialog of layers and textures is built up. The history of what lies beneath may not be seen and yet it gives a nuance to the painting that hints of this history.

I came to painting later in life. I attended classes in drawing, figure drawing and watercolor. Working abstractly in mixed media was a natural next step. The freedom of painting is a gift I give myself. It is a joy to share this with others. I invite you to let my paintings speak to your emotions and spark your imagination.
